/Balkan Floods, Linocut

This original linocut print depicts the terrible floods that occurred in the Balkans in 2014. Over 80 people lost their lives and much property was destroyed. This image of the boy saving a puppy from the deluge was taken from a photo that went viral online. I don't know the photographer or what happened to the boy.

This print is one from a box-set called the 'Exeter Portfolio' containing prints created by printmakers from Double Elephant Print Workshop and by 4 contemporary artists commissioned by the Double Elephant.

/Eternity Ring, Linocut

Eternity Ring is a simple linocut print on archival quality Zerkall paper of a decorative circle representing eternity. The carved piece of lino makes one quarter of the image, it is re-inked, turned 90 degrees and printed again and then twice more until the ring is completed. I chose a deep bronze blue printed on a creamy white background, which is reminiscent of decorative ceramic tiles.

Paper size: 7" x 6.5" (17.5cm x 16.5cm)

/Food Water Energy Nexus, Linocut

The Food, Water, Energy Nexus is a concept, which helps to show the complicated interconnections of food, water and energy on planet earth. This linocut depicts the three areas in a traditional style. The colours were printed first in a painterly way with small rollers on an uncut plate of vinyl and the vinyl was then carved to give the black design.

/Mindoro, Philippines, Linocut

Mindoro is a beautiful island in the Philippines. I visited there in 1996 and sketched whilst in a cafe on the beach. This image is based on that drawing of a Filipino woman, a beautiful palm and a Coca-Cola sign!

This limited edition linocut print was completed using the reduction technique. This is #1 of 5 prints which is signed in pencil by Ali Savic and printed on cotton rag archival quality Zerkall paper.

/Serbian Folk Dancers, Linocut

'Serbian Folk Dancers' linocut is printed with black ink on beautiful Arches paper. The design is completely original depicting my impressions of Belgrade. There is an Orthodox church and some geometric shapes suggesting the concrete high rise and mosaics in the city.

/Tasmajdan Park, Linocut

A woman from Belgrade is wrapped up for the bitter cold and is catching a tram at Tasmajdan Park, next to the beautiful St Mark's Church. The geometric patterns are my impressions of the 20th century concrete high-rise, mosaics and sculptures in the city.

'Tasmajdan Park, Belgrade' linocut is hand-printed on gorgeous Japanese paper from a totally original design. I inked up the piece of lino with a roller in deep blue and then rolled a few areas in maroon to add a richness to the colour. Having placed the paper carefully on the lino, I hand-burnished the back of the paper to lift the ink from the plate. The lines are crisp and clear and the paper is delicate but strong.
